In the past, running our Team Distance Challenge at the ILSC has been great fun and raised much needed funds for our programme Snow Camp – and we were excited to bring our new event, a Team Triathlon involving ski racing, biathlon and snow show hiking, to the January 2022 event for the first time.
Sadly, despite the best efforts of everyone, it was not to be. Covid restrictions meant the ILSC was rescheduled again until 2023. However, undeterred, and realising how important these funds are for Snow Camp, Christopher Hudson promoted the idea of the NOT the ILSC Fundraising Challenge, which Livery Companies generously got behind.
Just over a month from launch, we are delighted to say that efforts from the Livery Companies have now raised over £15,000 for Snow Camp’s work without a single piste being skied!
Switch180 Founder Dan Charlish said: “This is such a fantastic outcome from what was initially a sad situation with the event being postponed. We are creating 7 bursaries with these funds, to enable young people to complete the full Snow Camp journey of courses starting in July 2022, just as Kym did, who came and spoke to everyone at the ILSC back in 2019 (picture below). To change 7 young lives in this way – without the event even taking place, is truly wonderful. Huge thanks to every Company and individual who generously donated.”
ILSC organiser, Christopher Hudson said: “It feels like the right time to wrap up the ‘Not the ILSC/Snow Camp Triathlon’ initiative. I hope you will agree that the Livery Team Captains and their teams and supporters have more than risen to the challenge that we set ourselves. I am absolutely thrilled with the results. We look forward very much to getting together with everyone next year so that we can do even better with the real thing!”
