City Drinks event at the Haberdashers’ Hall

On November 6th 2019, we were joined by over 150 supporters at the beautiful Haberdashers’ Hall in London for our annual city drinks event.

On a crisp autumn evening, our supporters from across the City joined us at The Haberdashers’ Hall to celebrate the impact the charity has had on many young lives over the last year.

A stone’s throw away from Smithfield Market and St Paul’s Cathedral, The Haberdashers’ Hall is an oasis of calm in the heart of London. The Livery Hall has a magnificent high vaulted ceiling, oak-panelled walls and floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the courtyard from above, it really was the perfect venue to host our drinks event. Thank you to Master James Kininmonth, The Haberdashers’ Company team and Tim Haden-Scott from Delancey for letting us use the beautiful space and for providing refreshments in-kind.

The evening started with an introduction from our Patron Graham Bell and a welcome speech from our Founder Dan Charlish, where guests were encouraged to sign up to our brand new snowsports fundraising event, the Courmayeur Classic.

Young people talking

Apprentices from our programme Snow Camp took to the stage to talk about their journeys with us. It was so inspiring to hear our young people talk about the positive impact that the charity has had on their lives. Our new London Assistant Programme Manager, Shayleigh Kitto said:

“I started my Snow Camp journey 5 years ago. I was 15 when I first stepped out on the snow with Snow Camp on the summer First Tracks Programme. Since then I’ve completed the full programme journey, gained an instructor qualification and spent a year as a Snow Camp apprentice. The whole experience opened a new world of opportunities for me to work in management positions in the service industry. When I saw that Snow Camp were looking for a new London Assistant Programme Manager, I just knew I had to apply – Snow Camp have been such a big part of my life, to be employed full-time at the charity seemed like the dream next step. And here I am! I’m delighted to share my experience and knowledge with the new Snow Camp young people and to work closely with the whole team.”

Young people at City Drinks

Throughout the evening guests bid on several silent auction items including a ski holiday, a power boat experience and theatre tickets. Thank you all for donating the items in-kind. Our young people also worked the room selling raffle tickets and talking to guests. Huge thank you to everyone who donated, collectively you raised £10,000

“It was so lovely to see so many supporters under one roof. We really enjoyed hosting the event at The Haberdashers’ Hall and we are so grateful to Master James Kininmonth, The Haberdashers’ Company and Tim Haden-Scott for not only letting us use the space free of charge but for providing the drinks and snacks too.

It has been fantastic to see a few new teams sign up to the Courmayeur Classic as a result of the event and to raise vital funds needed to continue our work. Huge thanks to everyone involved!”
