£100,000 grant from BBC Children In Need awarded to our programme Snow Camp

Our programme Snow Camp has been awarded a three year grant of £100,000 from BBC Children in Need.

New funding from BBC Children in Need will enable 150 young Londoners to take part in our programme each year. Young people, who would not otherwise have access, will be able to experience snowsports for the first time; starting with a 2 day introduction to skiing and snowboarding through to training them to be Level 1 Snowsport England instructors. For every hour on the slopes, the young people will spend the same amount of time in the classroom, taking part in life skills sessions and working towards qualifications.

“We are thrilled to have been awarded a grant from BBC Children in Need. To have their support will make a huge difference to our organisation enabling us to support more young people in need while providing further awareness to our essential work.

The importance of our work has been highlighted in recent news. Working closely in inner-city areas in London it’s been heart breaking to see so many people from the communities in which we work, coping with devastating tragedies relating to knife crime and youth violence. With BBC Children In Need’s support our hope is for Snow Camp to continue providing young people from these communities with a positive alternative. We want to provide opportunities that enable our young people to look to the future with positive mindsets and aspire to achieve what they never thought was possible.”
