A total of 57 players took to the Bush Hill Park course in perfect sunny conditions, with a ‘shotgun’ start at 9.30am. After a warm welcome in front of the clubhouse from charity Director Dan Charlish and Patron Jenny Jones, teams were ready to tackle the beautiful 18-hole course.
Foursomes from local businesses and long-term supporters of the charity all chipped-in and the day saw £15,000 being raised through the entry fees, games and challenges on the holes, a raffle and prize draw holiday courtesy of Le Ski – all of which will go directly to help young people through our programmes Snow Camp and Stop.Breathe.Think.
Regular competitor Damian Norman, Head of Events at Excel Centre, said: “It’s always a pleasure to come for this great day out. We all really enjoy the course, atmosphere and competition, but most of all we are proud to be supporting a cause that is having a big impact on young people across the country.”
Along the way teams had the opportunity to put their skills to the test at our ‘hit the gong’, ‘nearest the pin’, ‘putting challenge’ and ‘beat the pro Danny Hill’ challenges.
Teams met Snow Camp young people, Lamar, Dani, James and Alice who were caddies on the 6th and 12th hole. This gave them the perfect opportunity to tell teams about their experiences with Snow Camp, highlighting the impact the funds raised will have. Our Wellbeing Manager, Paige, was also on hand at the first tee, to highlight Snow Camp’s growing wellbeing work with young people, and to help teams with some simple breathing exercises, a new experience for many players!
Our Development Board member Carol Newland helped with many aspects of the day, including providing sloe gin on the 11th, a welcome break which galvanised teams for the remaining holes.
Making the trip from London and Kent, our winners were Team Stellar Asset Management, a group of colleagues and clients who regularly tee-off together and who took home the Gregor Michie Memorial Cup. Tom Hind said: “We’re absolutely delighted to win this coveted cup but more importantly to have contributed to such a fantastic charity at a superbly organised day out with staff and clients. We very much look forward to future events with Switch180!’’
After such a successful return of the event following the pandemic period, event organiser and charity Director, Dan Charlish said: “We want to thank all our superb golfers for signing-up to our Aravis Capital Golf Day and making it such a success. It is a highlight in our calendar and we couldn’t have done it without the generous support of all the teams, our title sponsor Aravis Capital and our additional sponsors Atherton York, Meriski, Ski Exchange, KSL, Champions UK Plc, Newland Construction and Le Ski. And thanks again to Bush Hill Park Golf Club who pulled out all the stops and helped us put on a great day.”
