We love being part of this fantastic event and enjoy working closely with the team at Momentum Ski who do a wonderful job running it. Once again, we were providing a Team Distance Challenge for all participants, this time with a Le Mans start which everyone at the Knight Frank City Ski Championships enjoyed!
After the first day of racing, the City Ski Championship’s hosted the Financial Times Forum, at the Royal e Golf Hotel. Amin Momen, CEO of Momentum Ski invited Switch180 Founder Dan Charlish to the stage to discuss our work. Dan was then joined by our 3 of our Snow Camp young people and their Programme Manager Morven Bett.
Joel, James and Blake spoke movingly to the large audience about their experiences with Snow Camp and how the programme had changed their lives. It was an inspiring interview and the young people received a huge round of applause at the end.
Former F1 Racing Driver Damon Hill tweeted: “Really uplifting testimonies from some amazing young people, finding out what life can offer and realising their full potential thanks to Snow Camp.” His sentiments were shared by many in the room and many conversations about Switch180’s work were had over the coming days.
The following morning the team set up at the Paddock below Maison Vieille ready to launch the Team Distance Challenge. It was a sunny bluebird morning and 9 teams lined up to take on the challenge is perfect conditions.
Our Patron Chemmy Alcott did an amazing job setting teams off and with the sound of the siren all teams got away safely!
Teams were tasked to ski as far as they possible could in 60-minutes, with top of the range trackers provided by TracTrac monitoring their progress and creating the leaderboard.
Many congratulations to team Capco who took the title this year racking up an impressive 25.1km over the hour. And thank you once again to Momentum Ski for inviting us to be part of such a fantastic event.
And a special mention to Knight Frank, who stepped up to become title sponsors this year, whilst also generously stepping up their support to our work with young people with a £10,000 grant. We have greatly enjoyed getting to know the Knight Frank team over recent years at the Champs, are we so grateful for their ongoing support.
